Do You, New: CAREER

Reset, renew, and rejuvenate your career goals to serve YOU.

career goals

This new year is the perfect opportunity to reset and renew your career well-being. Whether you’ve already had your sights set on new career goals, or you’re happily settled in your current job, now is the time to reflect on how you can elevate toward the fulfilling and meaningful career you deserve.

Here are some reflection questions to get you started:

  • What was your biggest career accomplishment this year?
  • What successes did you have?
  • What are your professional strengths?
  • What challenges did you face & what opportunities do you see for improvement?
  • Where did you experience limitations? Were the limitations due to something you can control or were they outside of your control?
  • Compare where you are now to where you expected to be at this point 10 years ago. (Proceed with caution: this question is about letting go of our expectations of ourselves and accepting where we are now).
  • What distracts you from reaching your full potential?
  • Where do you see yourself in 5/10/15 years?
  • What are you doing now to prepare yourself for your future career?
  • What’s one thing that stood out to you in this conversation, or your reflections on this topic in general?
  • What’s one thing you want to focus on related to this topic or your relational well-being as a whole?

Actionable Tips & Insights To Get You Closer To the Career You’ve Always Dreamed Of

career goals

Some of our tips and tricks for career well-being are more abstract and intangible, things that can’t be put on a to-do list but rather, require attention over a period of time. For example, shifting your mindset away from traditional success measures like salary, title, or material possessions, and toward holistic success/true well-being is an important shift in the way you approach your short- and long-term career goals. Ask yourself: how do I define “success?” What would it look like for me to be successful in my career? What does success mean in other areas of life, such as relationships, physical health, or emotional well-being?

Speaking of emotional well-being…. We really can’t experience true success without it. Of course, it’s possible to have the salary and title without being emotionally or spiritually well. But it would be difficult to truly enjoy the salary and title you worked so hard for if you are suffering in your personal life. Working towards a healthy and fulfilling career may require changing habits and disrupting your current lifestyle.

Your career should work FOR you, allowing you to experience fulfillment and happiness, and enjoy the success you’ve worked for.
